I am the daughter of Bill Long. He was at Luke Training Field in AZ, 2nd Lt in 1940 as a aviation cadet.
He joined the Waco AAF, SQ LC15 19 On 9/17 1944 promoted to Capt. He flew 109 sucessful missions, (P47 thunderbolt) over Italy, Corsica, France and N. Africa.
He returned to Marana in Tuson as a flight instructor.
Unfortunately he committed suicide at the age of 39 in 1963 This was a result of PTSD, no one knew of this disorder at that time.
I would like to know anyone that has any information about him or his squadron, on just anything.
My family has very little information. I do have his photo and 2 of his medals. He Did receive several ribbons, battle stars, presidental citation, etc.
Thanking you
His daughter who loved him so much, and misses him
